NL-EPITHALON™ delivers 1800 mcg of pentapeptide per day. Scientists are studying this peptide in relation to sleep, circadian rhythm and aging processes.Your body recovers while you sleep, yet with age you wake up rested less and less often. NL-EPITHALON™ delivers 1800 mcg of pentapeptide per day. Scientists are studying this peptide in relation to sleep, circadian rhythm and aging processes. The NL-DELIVERY™ capsule protects it from stomach acid and digestive enzymes, so the peptide reaches the intestine and is absorbed there.

    • Melatonin at night. In a small study in older adults, Epithalon increased nighttime secretion of melatonin, the sleep hormone, and normalized its daily rhythm.

    • Telomerase. In a lab study on human cells, Epithalon increased telomerase activity.

    • Signs of aging in mice. In a mouse study, Epithalon slowed some of the changes that appear with age.

    • NL-DELIVERY™. The double capsule protects the peptide from stomach acid, and the micropellets help it absorb in the intestine.

    Key benefits of NL-EPITHALON™.

Epithalon is modeled on a peptide from the pineal gland, a small gland in the brain that releases melatonin, the sleep hormone, in the evening. Scientists are studying it in relation to sleep, circadian rhythm and cellular aging.

    01Sleep and melatonin

Epithalon was developed in Russia by Professor Vladimir Khavinson’s team. Scientists have studied it mainly in cells and animals, and in humans in small groups of older adults.1

    1. Melatonin in older adults

In a small study in older adults, Epithalon increased the amount of melatonin released at night and normalized its daily rhythm.2

    2. The pineal gland weakens with age

The pineal gland releases melatonin in the evening, which sets the timing of sleep and wakefulness. With age, it works less and less efficiently.3

    3. 2 capsules in the evening

You take them before bed. Enclosed in the capsule, the peptide has no taste or smell.

    02Epithalon in aging research

Five areas in which scientists have studied Epithalon in relation to sleep, circadian rhythm and aging.

    1. 1Pineal gland and melatonin

You support the rhythm that sets your time for sleep and recovery.

With age, the pineal gland releases less melatonin. In older adults and in old monkeys, Epithalon increased its nighttime secretion.2

    2. 2Telomeres and telomerase

You support the processes behind cell renewal.

Telomeres are the end caps of chromosomes: they protect DNA and shorten with every cell division. Telomerase is the enzyme that rebuilds them. In a study on human fibroblasts, connective tissue cells grown in the lab, Epithalon increased telomerase activity and telomere length.4

    3. 3Signs of aging in mice

You support the processes researchers associate with slower aging.

Researchers measured signs of aging in mice, such as chromosome damage. Epithalon slowed some of these changes. Average lifespan did not change, but the longest-lived animals lived longer.5

    4. 4Pineal and pancreatic hormones

You support the hormonal system, which loses its regular rhythm with age.

In old monkeys, pineal peptides restored the hormonal function of the pineal gland and pancreas that had been disrupted with age.6

    5. 5Effects on genes

You support the processes a cell regulates at the gene level.

Professor Khavinson’s team studies how short peptides affect gene expression, that is, which genes a cell switches on and which it silences. A 2021 review brings together results from cell and animal studies.1

Scientists are also studying Epithalon in relation to immunity and chronic inflammation. We describe research directions here. A food supplement is not intended to treat or prevent disease.

    03Sleep and the aging body
    • Deep sleep

Deep sleep gets shorter with age. It is in this phase of sleep that the brain and body recover most.7

    • Circadian rhythm

The biological clock, the internal system that keeps track of the 24-hour day, weakens with age. Sleep times and hormone release become less regular.8

    • Melatonin

With age, the body produces less melatonin. This hormone regulates the sleep rhythm and acts as an antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals.3

    • Telomeres

Telomeres, the end caps of chromosomes, shorten with age and under stress. Researchers link their length to healthy aging.9

    • Cortisol and stress

Chronic stress alters the secretion of cortisol, the stress hormone, and affects the brain at any age.10

    • Immunity

Sleep and the immune system influence each other. When you sleep too little, your body is less able to fend off infections.11

    • Inflammation

With age, a low-grade chronic inflammation persists in the body. Scientists call it “inflammaging”, a blend of the words “inflammation” and “aging”.12

    • Longevity

Pineal peptides are one line of research into how to slow cellular aging.1

Based on scientific research, these tiles describe how sleep and the body change with age. They are not claims about the effects of the product.

Pentapeptide (epithalamin analog)1800 mcg · 2 capsules of 900 mcg

Epithalon was developed in Russia as a synthetic analog of epithalamin, a peptide from the pineal gland, the gland that releases melatonin. It was created by Professor Vladimir Khavinson’s team, which studies short peptides as bioregulators, substances that regulate how cells and organs work. In NL-EPITHALON™, the peptide goes into an NL-DELIVERY™ capsule, which protects it in the stomach. There are no EU-authorized health claims for the pentapeptide.

Mechanism: A peptide from NL-PEPTIDES™ technology, modeled on epithalamin, a peptide from the pineal gland. Scientists are studying it in relation to circadian rhythm and aging.

    NL-DELIVERY™ micropelletsin every capsule

Peptides are large, water-soluble molecules, so they pass poorly through the intestinal wall. The micropellets contain an absorption enhancer that makes this passage easier, and an ingredient that lowers pH where the peptide is released. Scientists are researching absorption enhancers as one of the main approaches to oral peptide delivery.

Mechanism: The NL-DELIVERY™ component that helps the peptide pass through the intestinal wall into the blood.

    Why we created NL-EPITHALON™.

Stomach acid and digestive enzymes break down most peptides before the body can absorb them. So the hardest part of any peptide supplement is getting the peptide to the intestine intact.

That’s why NL-EPITHALON™ contains a single peptide instead of a combination of melatonin and herbs. We enclosed it in micropellets and a double capsule. Every batch is tested by laboratories in Poland, Germany and Switzerland.

NL-EPITHALON™ is a single molecule, at the dose you see on the label. The SYNTHAGEN standard: pure raw material, good absorption and the same quality in every batch.
